José A. Socorro, Esq. | Managing Partner  

José A. Socorro is a Managing Equity Partner at Socorro Law Group, where his practice encompasses a wide range of legal areas including insurance coverage, labor and employment law, wage and hour claims, civil and commercial litigation, and mediation services.

With over 20 years of legal experience, Mr. Socorro has successfully tried cases in both state and federal courts, argued appeals before state and federal appellate courts, and represented clients before governmental and administrative agencies on matters involving wage disputes, Title VII claims, and immigration issues. He has also handled arbitrations before the American Arbitration Association (AAA) and the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA).

Mr. Socorro’s clients range from small businesses to large corporations across diverse industries, including food service, construction, hospitality, retail, software, staffing, technology, tourism, healthcare, international trade, Professional Employer Organizations (PEOs), Business Process Outsourcing (BPO), insurance, and banking.

A native of Staten Island, New York, Mr. Socorro earned his Bachelor of Science in Political Science, with a minor in International Affairs, from the State University of New York at Albany in 1998. He went on to receive his Juris Doctor from Seattle University School of Law and the University of Miami School of Law in 2004. He was admitted to the Florida Bar in 2005 and is licensed to practice before the United States District Courts for the Southern and Middle Districts of Florida. In addition to Florida, he is admitted to practice in New York, the District of Columbia, and before the United States Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit.

Mr. Socorro is also a published legal author and speaker. His work includes co-authoring “Got A Minute—How To Conduct Investigations and Avoid the Dreaded Discrimination Law” (NAPEO’s PEO Insider, 2013) and contributing to “Employers Should Make Holiday Parties Memorable for the Right Reasons” (Daily Business Review, 2012). He has delivered numerous presentations on topics such as ADA, FMLA, and workers’ compensation overlaps, wage and hour compliance, and legal considerations for independent contractors and interns.

Since 2021, Mr. Socorro has been certified by the Florida Supreme Court as a Mediator and Arbitrator. He has successfully mediated hundreds of cases involving insurance defense, workers’ compensation, and various civil litigation matters.
